The IntraText Version of the NAB

For regular visitors of Biblista.NET, I have prepared a tutorial for accessing and making use of the IntraText version of the New American Bible. This is in connection with the reading guides I post every week on the Sunday readings. One visitor after having read one of these guides (written in Tagalog) asked me where a concordance can be found. I told him that there is at the moment no concordance in Tagalog but there are a lot in English. There is even one online at www.vatican.va. That answer should have been enough for a geek. But the guy I was talking to is not a web geek. He had difficulties finding the link to the concordance. So I thought, if he is having difficulties with it, others may be having problems with my explanation too. So I came up with a brief tutorial for accessing the Intratext Concordance for the NAB at the Vatican website. It is found here.

The official site of the New American Bible is of course found at the website of the Catholic Bishops of the US. The concordance to it, however, is found only at the Vatican website.

New Content at Res Biblica

I’ve updated the front page of Res Biblica and put in new content for the post-easter feasts. Some time ago, I upgraded the Drupal content management system the website runs on and lost some features in the process. So the new Res Biblica no longer has the web links it used to have and the aggregator which drew in front page content from the Mystical Geek and Otium Sanctum is currently disabled. The upgraded site has new features though like the panelled front page and the automated footnoting apparatus.

I mentioned earllier that I am working on a database of links on the articles that deal with the Scriptures. Here are partial releases and both are downloadable from the Mystical Geek:

To benefit from those articles, one will have to read them with the browser open on a live internet connection. Printing them out won’t be of much help.

From Otium Sanctum To Biblista.NET

I just would like to inform those who have been asking me about it that Otium Sanctum will no longer be updated. Instead, I’ll be disabling the website from future memberships but allowing surfers to access its contents. The website to visit now will be Res Biblica (http://www.biblista.net/main) which has new articles that follow the format of the ones in Otium Sanctum.

So why am I no longer updating Otium Sanctum? Too many spammers bogging down the system. Besides, the bandwidth demands of the site has been increasing since the time it reached 200 posts. That is the reason why sometimes, towards the end of the month, the website gives off the announcement that it has exceeded its bandwidth instead of showing off its contents. In any case, the articles will continue to be available. Currently, I am working on a database of the articles that are posted there for interested parties to use as reference from their desktop. I am creating the database using C-Organizer Pro, CSoftLab’s Personal Information Manager of which a personal license was granted me after I submitted a database of web resources (Webresources For The Aspiring Webmaster). The items in that database will be pointing to the articles at Otium Sanctum so it cannot be used unless one is online and using C-Organizer Pro. For those who do not have this excellent software, I will also be making available a CSV format of the same database so that one can use it from within Excel. When I am finished with it, I will be making it available through this blog.
